So when most people buy a smartphone, they are not thinking about DXO mark.  They just want to know if the camera is good, and will the phone work for them the way they need it to.

DXO mark is a company that rates and reviews smartphone cameras, and all types of cameras.  I’ll get right to this…there is not ONE phone I have, that can compete with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera.  I won’t bore you with a long post, but what I will do…is just show you the pics.  You decide which photos you like better.

While I can say that today’s smartphones are awesome, they still are not on the level of an actually camera.  I think that companies are misleading customers, by telling them that their can compete with DSLRs.  It’s simply not that accurate. While phone cameras are REALLY good, they are not able to give you real detail like a real camera.  Now I am not bashing phone cameras, I’m simply saying don’t think you can buy a phone that an beat out a DSLR or Mirrorless camera for quality.  In fact, phones cost more than the body of MOST DSLR cameras.  Which is shocking.

In these samples, I compared my Canon SL2 with the stock lens, vs the HTC U12+ because it was rated at 103 by DXO mark.  So I’m gonna post the full photos, with no edit.  You can click on them, zoom, do whatever you need to do to get a good look.  I just took random photos with both devices, and grouped them together.  They were all taken in the same spot…Enjoy.

Disclaimer: In NO WAY, am I saying the HTC U12+ has a bad camera, this is simply a test.  I will also be comparing it to my iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X to further prove my point.
