Is the Essential Phone PH-1 DOA?

Well it’s no secret that we all were hyped about the new Essentials Phone back when it was first brought to our attention. But what’s happened since then? Where did they go wrong?

I feel that they should have just not spoken about the device, until it was really ready to be released.   The Phone is only DOA with marketing, not the device itself.  It has all the bells and whistles we all wanted, and asked for in our smartphone.  intro_last_frame_with_ui@2x

  • Big screen, small body
  • 5.7 inch Quad HD Display
  • 128GB internal storage (at least)
  •  Snapdragon 835
  • Big Battery 3040mAh (somewhat big)
  • 4GB RAM
  • 4k Video recording on the FRONT Camera
  • Stereo speakers
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Dual-Band WiFi
  • Titanium Frame (won’t damage easy)
  • Stock Android
  • And last but not least, it doesn’t release with the latest software.

Overall, this phone will be a smash hit amongst tech heads, as it should be.  There is no other phone out here right now, that can record 4K video on the front camera that I know of (please tell me in the comments if there is).  Aside from some killer specs, this phone looks stunning.  The PH-1 is priced at $699, which I think it fair…but I still don’t wanna pay that much.  I know nothing about the phone, and most of the world doesn’t either sadly.

If Andy Rubin would have not bragged about all the financial backing he had; not done that horrible interview (if I can call it that) with that clown from Bloomberg, he would have a jewel everyone wants.  Instead, he has a phone that no-one knows about, but most tech heads want.  I’ll admit, I’m getting it…because I really want it.  But does the world want it?  Probably not!  The phone will cost Sprint customers $750, which is kinda silly to me. Sprint is at the bottom of the food chain in the smartphone network game, and there is another mistake made with the launch of this phone.  Give it to Sprint as an exclusive. WHAT THE HECK?

I’m not gonna beat up on this situation too much, but what I will do is just buy it.  Because who knows, I might like it.  Regardless if it’s not a hit to the tech world, it might be a hit for me.  It checks a lot of boxes for me, and I’m good with that.

Will you be getting the new Essential Phone PH-1?  Or are you not interested in a bad purchase, that might not get updates because it will be dropped like the Pixel devices at launch with no more sales?

  1. I believe it’s 699 on Sprint…and they have a half off deal for it on their leasing plan. That means on a lease, you will pay 14 dollars per month for this phone. I’ve had Sprint for a long time now, and have had no problem with them ever.

Though I am leery of some of the bad things I’m hearing about the camera–which I must say gives me a lot of hesitation–I am still quite curious about this phone, especially at that price point. I have an upgrade due, and I’m really considering it.
