Samsung Galaxy S8 is HERE! First Impressions!

Let me start by saying that this is one of the most beautiful pieces of Hardware I’ve ever used on a smartphone.  The design is by far one of the sexiest, and sleekest I’ve ever seen. Samsung has done a great job with the design of this phone, and I see nothing but great things to come for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 when it arrives.

Along the front of the Samsung Galaxy S8 you’re faced with a beautiful 5.8 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display.  With no physical buttons on the front of the device anymore, it’s a welcomed change. On the back of the device you have a camera sensor, fingerprint reader, heart rate monitor, and you also have led dual tone LED Flash. On one side of the device you have a power button, and on the other side you have the volume rocker and a button dedicated to Bixby.

Inside the Samsung Galaxy S8 are some great specs.

  • Snapdragon 835
  • 4GB RAM 64GB ROM
  • 12mp Rear camera, 8mp front
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Waterproof IP68
  • Wireless charging {fast}
  • Iris scanner
  • SD Card slot

There’s no denying this is a very powerful device, and I’m hoping it stands the test of time.

So First impressions of this device is I’m very impressed! The phone is very easy to hold, and I can reach all sides with one hand. This is one reason I grabbed this model at first, so that I could get used to the form factor. Is a very narrow phone, and can take some getting used to. All in all, it’s been a joy to use so far. Cameras are really solid, but I’m a little disappointed that’s Samsung took away one of my favorite features. The live steam app built into the camera app, it was one of the best parts of the previous models. So want take it away?

Screenshot_20170421-180112They did give me dual camera mode though, but I don’t know if I will use it much.  Other than that, I’ll give my thoughts on the battery at a later time.

I still need to do more testing!  Also, they have the phone set at 1080p out of the box, and I don’t understand that move.  (I won’t try to either, because I have changed it up to the highest setting where it should be in my opinion.). Another thing I wanted to point out, is you can now have the back button on the left, and recent on the right.  This should have been done by Samsung a long time ago, but they wanted to be different.

Screenshot_20170421-184618One reason why Samsung devices are so sluggish, is because of the OS.  It’s too heavy, no matter what they claim.  No matter how much they say they have slimmed it down, I just don’t see it.  Of the 64GB’s of on board storage, nearly 16GBs goes the system.  Which is not good to me, but what can we do?

For now, this appears to be a decent phone, and I’ll update as I need to along the way with more.

P.S. YES, I’ve missed the fingerprint reader on early EVERY attempt to unlock that way, my GOSH!  But I’m now using the iris scanner, because it is REALLY fast.
